A number of telecom operators and Internet providers in Chuvashia blocked subscribers access to YouTube video hosting. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the head of the Republican Department of Roskomnadzor Tatyana Evdokimova. The resolution of the department spoke about the blocking of individual videos on this resource.
“This is a technical problem of providers. Sometimes they do not allow hardware to block a specific prohibited page, and they will first block YouTube in order to avoid some supervisory sanctions,” Evdokimova noted. “Apparently, it’s easier to block the entire resource, then allocate the necessary prohibited page, close access to the resource.”
According to Subscribers of Rostelecom, Infolink and Chebnet in Chuvashia, difficulties with access to video hosting were discovered in the afternoon. For Czebnet subscribers, access was restored after a while. Subscribers of Rostelecom and Infolinka in Chuvashia are still complaining about YouTube blocking.
On March 9, one of the largest providers of the Altai Altai Republic blocked access to YouTube due to the decree of Roskomnadzor to block individual videos on this resource. According to the company's subscribers, access to YouTube disappeared the day before, on Sunday access to YouTube was restored twice for a short period of time, but then disappeared again. At the same time, Beelyine and Megaphone subscribers can so far use the resource freely.
“Roskomnadzor’s decree on blocking individual videos on YouTube. Unfortunately, we cannot block separate videos, so we have to block the entire resource so far,” said the provider’s employee. Andrei Chepkin, if prohibited rollers are removed from the site, access will immediately resume. The interlocutor did not name their number, but noted that there are a lot of such videos.
