Appeal for the verdict Mikhail Kosenko

In October, by the decision of the Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow, he was aimed at compulsory psychiatric treatment. Prior to the sentence, Kosenko is contained in the Moscow pre -trial detention center.

Kosenko was charged with “participation in the riots” and “the use of violence that is dangerous to life and health, in relation to a representative of the authorities” (Article 212 and part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). Judge Lyudmila Moskalenko agreed with the charge on both articles, ignoring all the arguments of the defense. By a decision of the court, Kosenko was exempted from criminal liability in connection with a psychiatric diagnosis.

The term of stay in a psychiatric hospital may extend every six months on the basis of the conclusion of a medical commission.

On the day the sentence was announced at the Zamoskvoretsky court, several hundred people gathered (

Photo, video ). A series of single pickets with posters in defense of Kosenko took place. Eight people were detained at the court building. They, along with the other gathered, chanted "Freedom!" When it became known that the verdict is a guilty, the activists stretched two banners on the steps of the court and lit a fire. One participant in the action was riveted to the railing at the entrance, the police cut a chain. Six more were detained when they came to support their comrades to the Zamoskvorechye police department. Five detainees spent the night in the police department.

Independent observers recorded in the case of Kosenko numerous violations of the right to a fair court , Amnesty International recognized Kosenko as a prisoner of conscience .

According to the prosecution, on May 6, 2012, Kosenko participated in the "riots" on Bolotnaya Square and caused bodily harm to the riot police Alexander Kazmin. Kosenko in his last word emphasized the political character of the "swamp business". He asked the court to consider him sane.

38-year-old Kosenko has been in custody since June 8, 2012. Since 1999, he has a II group of disability in a mental illness that developed in him after a contusion received in the army.
