The State Duma became interested in the lawmaking of colleagues

The State Duma continues to closely monitor the current situation in Ukraine. The head of the working group under the Chairman of the State Duma for monitoring Ukrainian legislation, Vladimir Pligin, proposed monitoring laws online. Experts will be invited to translate documents into Russian.

Today the second meeting of the working group under the Chairman of the State Duma on monitoring Ukrainian legislation took place. The head of the working group, Vladimir Pligin, made a proposal to establish online monitoring of legislative acts adopted in Kyiv, as well as ensure their timely translation into Russian so that all members of the working group can familiarize themselves with them. State Duma deputy Tatyana Moskalkova told Kommersant that during the meeting the methodology for working with foreign documents was determined and the candidacies of experts who would be involved in the competent translation of texts from the Ukrainian language were discussed.

Mr. Pligin also drew attention to the need to develop international cooperation mechanisms to investigate cases of human rights violations in Ukraine. He mentioned that, as part of consultations with representatives of the European Parliament, all participants in the meeting spoke out in favor of investigating cases of cruelty, violence and deaths during the events in Ukraine. To do this, according to the deputy, it is necessary to use international procedures and, first of all, focus on human rights activities.

How many State Duma deputies are in Crimea

As Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), head of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, told Kommersant, 18 State Duma deputies are already working in Crimea, and they will be joined by Mr. Slutsky himself and his first deputy chairman Oleg Lebedev (United Russia). According to the deputy, they intend to “disperse” across the territory of the republic, but he did not talk in detail about the plans, or whether the parliamentary delegation will prepare a report on the referendum.
