While authorities and scientists are developing a project for a biopark in the Chernyaevsky forest, employees of the Perm Zoo are organizing a nursery for food animals at Bratskaya, 100. The Internet resource properm.ru reported this today. Zoo director Lyudmila Kardashova clarified to Kommersant that a separate pavilion will be built that can accommodate up to 1,000 rabbits. Rabbits go to feed the zoo animals. “We don't have enough space. We decided to take this step because raising rabbits does not require heated premises. We will resolve issues with water and electricity. We are building with our own money,” Ms. Kartashova explained to Kommersant. Construction of the nursery, according to rough estimates, will cost the zoo 2–3 million rubles. In addition, wounded birds, representatives of the local fauna, will be relocated to Bratskaya, which zoo staff will treat and then release into the wild. “It won’t hurt in any way if a decision is made to build a zoo on Bratskaya, 100. There’s a large plot there,” she added.

It is worth noting that the issue of moving the zoo to a new location has not been finally resolved. The site on Bratskaya, 100, according to Lyudmila Kardashova, is under the operational management of the zoo, “there is state registration and the right to place zoological park objects there.” The regional authorities insist on moving the zoo to the Chernyaevsky forest park. In January of this year, amendments to the general plan of Perm were adopted, which provide for the possibility of placing a menagerie on this territory. However, the corresponding changes have not yet been made to the rules of land use and development, in addition, the site is still classified as a specially protected natural area.
