The draft resolution on the situation in Ukraine, which was represented by representatives of the United States at a meeting of the UN Security Council, the Russian authorities criticized for isolation from the "existing realities." The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs especially condemned the resolution, according to which the results of the referendum in the Crimea should not be recognized as members of the Security Council. About the same, the department also criticized the resolution of the European Parliament.
“The Americans introduced this resolution, and our attitude to it is the most negative. We will not support such a resolution,” Gatilov, deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, reports . The diplomat emphasized: "The main thing is that the draft resolution contains an call for non -recognition of the results of the referendum in the Crimea. Therefore, of course, such a resolution is unacceptable to us."
"The resolution speaks of things that the UN Security Council should not discuss, since it is not about the international world and security," Gatilov added, especially since, according to him, the draft resolution "completely ignores the objective realities that have now developed."
"We believe that the will of people who are afraid of the repetition of the Cyprus scenario should be taken into account, taken into account," said the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Naturally, Russia recognizes the results of the referendum on the status of autonomy. As Gatilov said, Russia, "naturally, will respect the decisions for which the referendum participants will vote."
Obviously, the Russian diplomat considers a decision to hold a referendum legitimate, which most Western countries doubt . Gatilov said: "We do not believe that the Security Council should intervene in the decision of the legitimate authorities of Crimea regarding the organization of popular voting, since this is not prohibited by either the UN Charter or other norms of international law."
True, not only the American resolution caused a negative reaction among the Russian authorities. According to Russia Today , the RF Foreign Ministry said that the European Parliament resolution "causes bewilderment." At the same time, the official website of the ministry, attacked by hackers , does not work as of 20:00 on March 14.
"The frankly anti -Russian character of the yesterday’s resolution of the European Parliament is perplexed. The formulations contained in it are unacceptable and unfair, and the conclusions completely distort the essence of what is happening in Ukraine," said representatives of the Russian department.
The European parliament adopted a resolution that refers to the Russian intervention in the Crimea. "The European Parliament strictly condemns the act of Russian aggression with the invasion of Crimea, which is an integral part of Ukraine and is recognized as such a Russian Federation and the international community," the document adopted by the EU says.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, in turn, called the resolution "another evidence of the stubborn reluctance of European Parliamentarians to rely in their work on common sense and objective facts."
Summarizing the diplomatic "battles" of the last days, it is worth noting that it all depends on the referendum in the Crimea. The list of sanctions that are going to introduce Western countries against Russia, the response possible measures of the Russian authorities, the reaction of Ukraine-all this depends on how the Russian Federation, firstly, will perceive the referendum (which, obviously, can easily be predicted, based on the statements of Russian diplomats and officials), and secondly, how the Russian Federation reacts to the decision of the inhabitants of autonomy (which is also predicted with almost one hundred percentageous accuracy - both Crimean politicians and the results of polls indicate the desire of almost 80% of residents to become a subject of the Russian Federation).
