Verkhovna Rada dismissed the parliament of Crimea

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a draft resolution on early termination of powers of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Vesti.ua reports.

The corresponding bill was supported by 278 deputies out of 296 registered at the meeting. Including for the dissolution of the ARC parliament, 19 deputies of the Party of Regions voted. Deputies of the Communist Party did not take part in the vote.

The initiator of the bill was the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, the acting President of Ukraine Alexander Turchinov.

In February, the authorities actually occurred in Ukraine - the Verkhovna Rada passed under the control of the opposition and removed from the power of President Viktor Yanukovych. Russia did not recognize the new authorities of Ukraine.

In the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, they also refused to recognize the new government in Kyiv. The local parliament, captured by armed people in military uniform without identification marks, appointed the new prime minister of the leader of the Russian Unity movement Sergei Aksenov.

He turned to Vladimir Putin with a request for assistance in providing peace on the territory of autonomy, after which most formations of the army and the Ukrainian Navy in the Crimea were blocked by the Russian military. On Sunday, an autonomy will host a referendum on the status of Crimea. One of the voting options provides for joining Russia.
