The creators of the Pine Android watch will release a series of wearable devices

The team behind Pine, an Android smartwatch that came out of Kickstarter, is planning to release a series of wearables. This was reported by the GigaOM blog .

The creators of the Pine smartwatch, Neptune Computer, have entered into a partnership with designers from Pearl Studios, the authors of the elegant Misfit Shine fitness tracker. Together, the companies are going to release a whole series of wearable devices, but have not yet announced all the details of their plans.

As Neptune Computer founder and CEO Simon Tian told GigaOM in an interview, the first device in the series will solve the issue of authentication, automatically and quietly opening doors, entering passwords on the computer and generally “being the key to everything in life.” Authentication using such a device will be even more secure than a password, but not as expensive as fingerprint or retinal scanners.

The first device in the series may be released as early as 2015. Although the partners are not yet talking about other devices, it is already clear that they will not be working on fitness trackers, since all other companies are already working in this direction. Pearl Studios CEO Mladen Barbaric plans to announce the partnership at the Wearable Technology Conference and Expo, which will be held on March 17 in London.
