A group of Russian scientists published a letter to the leadership of the Ministry of Communications, Roskomnadzor and VGTRK with a request to “check for signs of extremism, inciting interethnic and interstate growth” all the programs of Dmitry Kiselev ”

The collection of signatures under the letter “On the unacceptable statements of the host of“ Vesti of the week ”D. We want to draw your attention to the unacceptable statements of the Deputy General Director of VGTRK Dmitry Kiselev, who sounded on the air 16.03 in the Vesti Week program. The reasoning that “Russia is capable of turning the United States into a radioactive ash”, ridicule that Obama “calls Putin in fear”, from the lips of the leading political observer of the country's main state canal acquire not only the nature of aggressive propaganda, but also sound as an expression of the official point of view of the leadership of Russia. Moreover, in these official statements of its representatives, this point of view looks different.

We, Russian scientists, believe that the disagreements in a specific geopolitical issue are unacceptable to use calls to the nuclear attack on another state, whatever the attitude towards it, to the unleashing of the Third World War. Moreover, it is unacceptable when such calls sound on the air of the main state channel.

The spread of irresponsible discussions about the nuclear war, the accustoming of public opinion to the admissibility of the very thought that Russia's participation in it is extremely dangerous and should be immediately suppressed. This is completely unacceptable in the 21st century, when the potential of nuclear weapons was accumulated at once by several countries and can be used to destroy our entire civilization.

We also believe that stylistics, rhetoric, the presentation of materials in general in Dmitry Kiselev’s programs “News of Week” are completely unacceptable on the state channel. Instead of deep analytics, reflection of all points of view, balanced arguments of the transfer of Dmitry Kiselev are full of arrogance, distorted facts, insulting personal attacks both against our compatriots and against foreign politicians, including leaders of states.

In this regard, we ask you to check for the presence of signs of extremism, inciting interethnic and interstate growth all Dmitry Kiselev’s programs “Vesti Week” over the past three months.

We express concern that Dmitry Kiselev simultaneously holds the post of deputy general director of the VGTRK and General Director of the Russian Information Agency, a new structure designed to increase confidence in our country, improve its image in the eyes of the whole world. We believe that Dmitry Kiselev’s activity gives the opposite result and causes irreparable damage to Russia's reputation in the world.
