The South African Paralympic Oscar Pistorus plans to sell a house in Praetory (South Africa), where on February 14 last year his friend Reva Stenkap was killed - to cover the costs associated with the trial. This was reported by the AFP agency with reference to the lawyer of the athlete Brian Webber.
The hearing in the case of the amputant runner began on March 3, and over the past almost three weeks, his legal expenses have grown greatly. To pay for the work of three lawyers, a group of experts in ballistics and forensic examination, as well as specialists of an American company involved in the reconstruction of the crime scene, about nine thousand dollars are needed daily.
Pistorius killed his girlfriend on all lovers on February 14, 2013 in his house, shooting four times through the closed door of the toilet room. He claims that he took her for the robber invading the house. According to experts, the very fact of shooting in a person whom you do not see is a violation of the law on weapons. The prosecutor’s office insists on the version with a deliberate murder, for which the defendant faces a punishment from 25 years to life imprisonment.
The process over Pistorius is shown live. For its lighting, a special round -the -clock television channel was even launched. The process is of great interest, because the “sprinter without legs” admired both the white and black population of South Africa.
