Academia Rossica awarded

On Thursday, March 20, the holders of the Academia Rossica Foundation Prize for translation of Russian literature into English were announced in London. The main award was received by the Honorary Professor of the University of Essential Angela Livingstone.

She was awarded for translations of the works of Marina Tsvetaeva, reports RIA Novosti . The short list of the awards this year also included new translations of Russian fairy tales, Alexander Pushkin, Vladislav Khodasevich and Oleg Zayonchkovsky.

The jury of the Rossica awards this year included Slavic scientists Professor Andrew Kan and Dr. Oliver Redi from Oxford University, as well as Professor Donald Rayfield from the University of London of Queen Maria.

Since 2009, the Rossica Young Translators Awards for translators under 25 years old has been awarded. The winner of this year was a graduate of Cambridge University Laura Thomas. She received the prize for the transfer of an excerpt from the novel "1993" by Sergei Shargunov.

The Russian-British non-profit fund Academia Rossica was created in London in 2000 with the aim of supporting and developing cultural ties between Russia and the West. In cooperation with the leading cultural institutions of Russia, Europe and America, the Fund seeks to present the best examples of Russian culture and promote a deeper understanding of Russian culture abroad to the British and American public.

The Rossica International Prize, established in 2005, is awarded for the best new translation of the literary work from the Russian language into English and is the only prize in the world.
