The Visa and Mastercard payment systems have stopped servicing the operations of Sobinbank, owned by Rossiya Bank, which the United States imposed sanctions on on March 20, the Prime agency reports, citing the credit institution’s call center.

Sobinbank clients are offered to withdraw cash from ATMs and branches of Sobinbank and ATMs of the United Settlement System. In the latter, a commission (0.06%) will be charged when withdrawing money. It is now impossible to make purchases and online payments using Sobinbank cards, the call center noted.

The bank said it is receiving calls from customers abroad who are having problems withdrawing cash.

In addition, Finservice Bank reported possible interruptions in the service of bank cards in retail chains and third-party ATMs.

Previously, Visa and Mastercard blocked transactions on cards of Rossiya Bank, controlled by businessman Yuri Kovalchuk (No. 1210 in the global ranking of billionaires according to Forbes, net worth $1.4 billion), and Northern Sea Route Bank (SMP Bank), the main owners whose brothers are Arkady Rotenberg (No. 375, net worth: $4 billion) and Boris Rotenberg (No. 1046, net worth: $1.7 billion). The Ufa-based Investcapitalbank, controlled by the Rotenbergs, told ITAR-TASS that they are experiencing problems with the operation of the processing center.

On March 20, the United States imposed sanctions on Rossiya Bank, Yuri Kovalchuk, the Rotenberg brothers and Gennady Timchenko (No. 61, net worth: $15.3 billion).
