The large landing ship of the Ukrainian Navy "Konstantin Olshansky", previously blocked by Russian invaders on Lake Donuzlav, was captured. This was reported to the "Frances" by the commander of the vessel Dmitry Kovalenko. By the beginning of the assault on board the "Olshansky" there were 21 people. Most of the team, earlier on Monday, went ashore, although she refused to go over to the side of the aggressor.
The assault on the ship was led by the Barkas of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia, on which there were about 200 people. The Olshansky team closed in the wardroom and launched two smoke curtains. The invaders shot from machine guns and threw noise grenades.
The capture lasted about half an hour. Around 18:00 (20:00 Moscow time), aggressors brought the ship officers to the stern and in their presence lowered the Ukrainian flag from the mast. Officers sang the anthem of Ukraine. People gathered on the shore shouted to the sailors: "Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!"
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Pravda reports that the invaders are preparing for the assault on the Cherkasy naval minesweeper, also blocked in Donuzlav, and the use of weapons is not excluded. This publication was announced by the senior sailor of the vessel Alexander Gutnik, referring to the words of sailors from the Genichesk raid minesweeper captured in the morning.
“The security forces promised the captured sailors that today they would storm the Cherkasy and apply gross physical strength to the crew, even up to the use of weapons,” said Gutnik. “According to them,“ this crew is the most overwhelmed and will very regret if it is resisted. ”
Gutnik also announced the details of the capture "Genichesk". According to the sailor, Russian special forces used gross physical strength. “Most of all were injured by those who tried to fight back, and the minesweeper,” said the Ukrainian sailor. “After that, even those who rested in Kubri after the watch,“ threw them on the upper deck and laid them down. They beat them with their feet. ”
Then the "Genichesk" moored to the shore and most of the team was released home. The minister commander, however, was captured; There is no information about his fate yet.
By mid -March, five Ukrainian warships were on Donuzlav - in addition to the "Olshansky", "Cherkassy" and "Genichesk" there were also the middle landing ship "Kirovograd" and the marine minesweeper of Chernigov. Since March 18, the invaders repeatedly presented the teams of these ships of the Ultimatum with a demand to surrender. However, Ukrainian sailors rejected these ultimatums. “As much as we can, we will stand so much,” Kovalenkosaid in an interview with “faces” last Thursday. “And if we leave, we will leave beautifully.”
On Friday , Chernigov and Kirovograd surrendered . The remaining three vessels continued to defend themselves.
