This is the theory and practice that was aimed at restraining the development of the Soviet Union. And, unfortunately, we also see this now - the atavisms of this theory of deterrence, they here and there are showing themselves ... And attempts to restrain Russia are manifested here and there. ” Only a few weeks have passed, and there is no doubt that the West is trying to carry out the real deterrence against Russia. And not in the expansion form that Putin tried to give this term (they say, hostile forces are trying to restrain our positive development). And in the very classic one: in order to prevent the new military aggression of Russia against Ukraine.

Western sources argue that the southeastern borders of the republic concentrated 20 thousand Russian troops, and they fear that Moscow is preparing a new Anschlus. The leaders of the seven leading industrial democratic states gathered on March 24 in the Hague to discuss the situation. The final statement emphasizes: “We are ready to take actions, including economic sanctions that will have a growing influence on the Russian economy if it continues to escalate the situation.” Moreover, the heads of the Greater Seven state agreed that their energy ministers in the near future will develop measures to reduce dependence on the supply of Russian oil and gas.

The formal removal of Russia from participating in the meetings of Western leaders also occurred. The head of domestic diplomacy continued in response to the doors closed in front of his nose. Like, I didn’t really want to: “Eight is an informal club, no one writes out membership tickets there, no one can drive anyone out of there by definition. With the basis of “twenty”, all economic, financial issues are discussed precisely in the “group of twenty”, and the “eight” retained the meaning of its existence primarily because it was a forum for the conversation of the leading Western countries and Russia ... If Western partners believe that the G8 format has outlived itself, so it is. ”

At the same time, Mr. Lavrov prefers not to talk about why, having abandoned communication with Putin, Western leaders did not announce the self -dissipation of samples. On the contrary, according to Ben Rogs’s national security, deputy US presidential assistant, they have now concentrated on coordination of sanctions against Russia. Like it or not, Sergei Lavrov should record a wonderful achievement on Russian diplomacy: in a matter of weeks, our country from the subject of negotiations turned into an object of influence. And nothing was required-to grab part of the territory of the neighboring state.

During the meetings and consultations of Western diplomats, their vocabulary began to change resolutely. And more and more often the word "isolation" began to be heard. Here is the same Ben Rhodes: “Russia is extremely preoccupied with its situation in the world. And this matters if traditional friends of Russia cannot express the support of its position or, conversely, express the support of the principle of sovereignty and territorial integrity ... We said that we can politically isolate them (Russian leaders. - A.G.), eliminating them from institutions like G7, abandoning joint projects that traditionally binded the United States and the EU with Russia. ” At the same time, Western diplomats indicate that, unlike the Cold War, Moscow is now not heading the block of states ready to support it. CSTO allies are silent, as if gaining water in the mouth. China preferred to refrain when voting at the UN Security Council by resolution with the condemnation of Russia. There is no doubt that if this resolution is introduced on the General Assembly, then it will receive support.

I suspect that soon the style of work of Sergei Lavrov will seriously change. What to talk about when there is nothing to talk about. When all the doors are closed, then there is no need to leave Moscow. You can send everyone far away, like Gromyko, and directly from the pioneer. Diplomacy is over, isolation began.
