ATC will be renamed in VDNH

The Moscow authorities plan to return its historical name to the All -Russian Exhibition Center (VVC), said the head of the Moscow Department of Culture Sergei Kapkov.

“We want to return the name to the exhibition of the achievement of the national economy (VDNH), because we plan to make a park dedicated to the successes of the Russian Federation in certain industrial sectors, and this is the continuation of the story that the architects of the past planned,” Interfax quotes Kapkova.

The head of the Department of Culture added that each pavilion at the VVC will “find its master”. For example, according to the official, if the Cosmos pavilion in the USSR was dedicated to the achievements of the Soviet Union in space, then Russia also has achievements in this area. “These are modern exhibitions, modern exhibits based on the experience of the past,” Kapkov explained.

Today, March 26, Sergey Kapkov, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Deputy Mayor for Economic Policy and Property Land Relations Natalya Sergeynina, Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov visited the ATC.

The exhibition complex on the site of the current VVC was officially opened in 1939 as the "All -Union Agricultural Exhibition" (VSHV). In 1959, the complex was reproduced and received a new name - VDNH of the USSR, and in 1992 it was renamed the VVC.
