© Taganka TheaterThe Moscow Department of Culture believes that the play based on playwright Mikhail Durnenkov “Victory Day”, whose premiere will be held on May 9 at the Taganka Theater, does not insult veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
According to Interfax , the Department of Culture made this statement in response to the accusation of the Taganka theater in propaganda of immorality and the absence of patriotism, put forward by Senator on March 26, Oleg Panteleev at a meeting of the Federation Council.
Regarding the information on the order of Dmitry Bykov, the play “Sheremetyevo-3”, which allegedly ridicules the state security authorities of the Russian Federation, the department said that the play was not yet ready and no agreements about it have yet been signed.
The department also commented on the accusation expressed by Senator Panteleev that the Maidan documentary festival was held at the theater, at which young people with the bandages of the Ukrainian nationalist organization “Right Sector” were allegedly noticed. According to the representative of the department, on March 15-17, a documentary festival “STORITION” was held in the theater on Taganka, at which plays dedicated to the theater and its performances were read.
The Ministry of Culture today, March 27, said that they would not deal with the situation in the theater on Taganka: “We did not receive a letter from a group of artists of the theater, but if we do it, we will not do this, since the theater on Taganka is under Moscow.”
PS Department of Culture of Moscow demanded from Senator Oleg Panteleev a public apology in front of the Taganka Theater, RIA Novosti reports. Panteleev replied that he did not intend to apologize, because he simply read out an official letter from the Taganka theater trade union, received by the Federation Council of the Federation Council. The senator advised the Department of Culture to apply for explanations to the authors of the complaint.
