Tymoshenko: I'm going to the presidency

The ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine, the leader of the "Fatherland" Yulia Tymoshenko announced his intention to run for president of the country, reports Ukrainian Pravda. "On March 29, at the congress, I will ask the" Fatherland "to officially nominate me as a candidate for the highest position of the state," Tymoshenko said at a press conference.

The ex-Prime Minister noticed that she, perhaps, was the only functionary in her party, demonstrating "how to turn corruption." According to Tymoshenko, in seven months she cleared the fuel and energy sector of corruption. “I have the moral right to say that I will fight corruption, because I went through the audit of Yanukovych and Azarov successfully and honestly,” the former head of government added.

Tymoshenko also expressed confidence that she would be a "candidate of Ukrainian unity." She noticed that it is a native of "a region that does not support our revolution now, where some people are indifferent to the Ukrainian language (Tymoshenko was born in Dnepropetrovsk. - Ed.)".

In addition, the ex-Prime Minister said: "I am convinced that I can protect Ukraine from Russian aggression and return Crimea to Ukraine."

Early presidential elections in Ukraine are scheduled for May 25, the deadline for submitting documents to the CEC expires on April 4. So far, the only registered candidate is the former deputy prospector Renat Kuzmin. Five more candidates passed the documents - this is the former governor of the Kharkov region Mikhail Dobkin, former deputy head of the Party of Regions Sergey Tigipko, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party Peter Simonenko, leader of the Right Sector Dmitry Yarosh, entrepreneur Vadim Rabinovich.

On Wednesday , the doctor and public figure Olga Bogomolets, who took an active part in the organization of the Maily of the Euromaidan, announced on Wednesday of his presidential ambitions. She stated that on Thursday she would submit documents to the CEC. However, on March 27 it turned out that the Bogomolets did not have enough money to deposit a collateral amount - 2.5 million hryvnias. Therefore, the submission of documents was postponed. The social activist announced that her friends were collecting money, and did not rule out that the necessary amount would appear with her by Thursday evening.

According to sociological surveys, the businessman and deputy Petro Poroshenko are leading among potential presidential candidates - 25 percent of the respondents are ready to vote for him. In second place is the leader of the strike by Vitaly Klitschko (8.9%). Tymoshenko ranks third (8.2%).
