Theater capital. Part two

Material for the next publication of the joint project of the magazine " Theater." and colta.ru “Bakhrushinsky Museum Online” we collected by studying the collection of the department of photographic documents of the museum. Among the thousands of archival photographs, several folders with the heading "Architecture" were preserved. In them, there are photographs of the external and internal appearance of Moscow theaters related to different decades and centuries. Some of them are easily recognizable, others with difficulty, others and completely disappeared from the face of the city. Today - the second, final, part of the photographer in theater Moscow, prepared by Ada Smerling.

The building in the pseudo -Russian style in Petrovsky Lane (formerly theologian) was built according to the project of architect Mikhail Chichagov for the money of Moscow merchants and philanthropists of the Bakhrushin brothers. In 1885, it was transferred to the entrepreneur Fedor Korsh, after the abolition of the imperial theater monopoly, which created the first private theater in Russia on the basis of the semi -legal troupe of the Pushkin Theater under the leadership of the Actress of the Small Theater in Russia. Before that, for two years, the Korsha Theater was located in the Kamerger Lane - in the premises of the Lianozovsky Theater, which was subsequently rebuilt for the Moscow Art Theater.
