© Cinema MuseumFrom April 1 to 6, the movie Museum will present in Moscow a retrospective of films Alena Rene (1922-2014), which will include six full-length and two short-term paintings by the director, representing different periods and aspects of his work.
The retrospective will be held in the cinema hall of the Mossovet public center (Preobrazhenskaya Square, 12), the beginning of sessions at 19:00. All programs of the program will be shown from 35 mm films.
April 1
"The whole memory of the world" ( Toute la mémoire du monde , 1956)
Documentary film Poem of Traveling in the French National Library.
"Night and Fog" ( Nuit et Brouillad , 1955)
The picture of the Nazi death camps that became a milestone in the history of world documentaries was built in the contrast of black and white newsreels and colored personnel shot ten years later on the territory of former concentration camps.

One of the most mysterious and aesthetic films in the history of world cinema is set according to the script of the French writer and ideologist of the “New Roman” Alena Rob-Griye.

"My American Uncle" ( Mon Oncle d'Amérique , 1980)
The painting by Alena Rene in an elegant and ironic form illustrates the main provisions of the theory of the French biologist Henri Labori, formulated in the book “Praise of the Flash”. Analyzing the behavior of people in society, Henri Labori came to the conclusion that in a collision with difficulties, a person realizes one of the possible strategies - he fights, does nothing or run away from problems. It is the flight, according to the scientist, that is the most productive reaction.

"Melodrama" ( Mélo , 1986)
The chamber film adaptation of the play of the French playwright of the first half of the 20th century Henri Burnstaina, set in compliance with all theatrical conventions, including the curtain between acts, stage lighting and theatrical scenery. Deliberately pointing the template melodramatic situations, Alain Rene is ironic over the genre cliches and the habits of the audience and creates the pure and sugary sample of the melodrama.
