Former Prime Minister of Ukraine, leader of the Fatherland party, Yulia Tymoshenko, said that Viktor Yanukovych became a “instrument of struggle” against the Ukrainian people and should appear for this before the trial. It is reported by Interfax .
Commenting on the statement of Yanukovych, who called for referendums about the status of each region of Ukraine, Tymoshenko said that for each separatist statement, for calls for the introduction of troops into the country and calls for the “destruction of independence of Ukraine”, the former president should answer the court and bear the appropriate punishment for this.
“If this statement by Yanukovych, then this once again indicates that this person who was once the president of Ukraine, in fact, has become an instrument of struggle against the Ukrainian people today,” Tymoshenko said during a briefing performance. At the same time, she expressed doubt that the published statement really belongs to Yanukovych.
The day before, a number of Russian media reported that on March 28, Yanukovych would give another press conference in Rostov-on-Don. The time and topic of the press conference was not announced. As a result, for unknown reasons, the event did not take place, and Yanukovych’s statement was published on the website of the ITAR-TASS news agency.
In his appeal, he called for referendums about the status of each region in Ukraine in order to stabilize the political situation, as well as preserve the sovereignty and integrity of the country. He also asked to relieve himself of the powers of the Party of Regions and announced the need to cancel the presidential early elections.
