We are talking about love, not about sex!

This is the main slogan of the week against homophobia, bifobia and transfobia - 2014, which is held in Russian cities

From March 29 to April 7 in Moscow and several more large Russian cities , a week against homophobia, bifobia and transfobia is held. Since 2007, LGBT organization has been organizing such "weeks" annually to recall the problems of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people.

The opening of the Moscow “Week against Homophobia, Bifobia and Transfobia”, scheduled for March 31, was supposed to be held at the MEZZOFORTE club, but two days before the event, the club administration refused to provide the premises, and now the organizers are forced to look for another site. About what shares will be held during the NPGBT-2014, in an interview with Radio, Liberty was told by the chief coordinator of the Moscow "Week" Dmitry Svetly :

- Within the framework of the week, a variety of events will be held, starting from lectures, seminars, discussions to street actions. A variety of topics: psychological seminars, legal, activist topics, the traditional "day of silence" with the distribution of leaflets.

- Tell us more about the "Day of Silence". What is it?

- "Day of Silence" is an all -Russian annual action. She looks like a flash mob. People gather in one place, seal their mouths with tape or paper and are silent, give out leaflets to people, which describe cases of violence against lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people. “We are silent for you to hear about us” - the main slogan of this day.

- What other street shares are planned?

-It is also planned to floral flash mob in honor of the slogan of the week against homophobia-"We are talking about love, not sex." We will give people flowers: a guy to a guy, a guy for a girl, a girl to a guy, a girl for a girl. Then we will launch a viral video on the Internet, which will tell what LGBT is. This year, which passed, was marked by homophobic laws that adopted that blocked access more free to real information about LGBT and strengthened the stereotypes about us: that we are perverts, so fencing, that we have nothing to do, so we - gays, bisexuals - meet with people of our gender. We wanted this slogan “We are talking about love, and not sex” to draw the attention of people that we also experience romantic feelings for our partners, that our relations deserve so that we do not hide them, so that all our loved ones, so that the people around him know about them. Our love is legal in any case. This is what we wanted to say.

- How many Russian cities support a week?

- Yes. This year, I know, there will be events in Samara, in St. Petersburg, possibly in Murmansk.

- Please tell us how the name of the week was transformed. What was it called originally and what is it called now?

- Initially, and three years ago it was called a week against homophobia. But in connection with the frequent cases of transfobia, when it was clear that the homophobes had already directed their goals, including to transgender people, as it was with Yana Sitnikova, a week was a week against homophobia and transfobia. This year, Bisexuals took a very active part in activism. They wanted us to also declare bifobia, which is present both in the LGBT community and in the heterosexual community. Therefore, we decided that it would be fair to say, including about bifobia.

- How much does a person take part in the organization of the Moscow week?

- About 10 people organize Moscow week. We meet weekly. Everything is ready, everything is marked. We will be very happy to see both the LGBT community and the people of interest at our events.

-In previous years, there were some difficulties in conducting events or did everything go well?

- They tried to disrupt last year. Enteo came to the opening. But thanks to our duty officers, it was possible to stop at the root immediately, not to let him into the event.

- How many guests usually attend the events of the week against homophobia, bifobia and transfoby?

- About 1000 people as a whole in a week.

- Do you think this year will be fewer people or more?

- It seems to me that there will be more people. Because everyone sees that laws are adopted, that they are adopted unfairly. People are interested in what is happening there, what they can do, how they can help. They do not want to see that stereotypes are planted, annoying stereotypes. They want to know new information. It seems to me that there will be more people.

-Will there be something fundamentally new, some innovations that distinguish this week from the previous ones?

-From the innovations, for example, the second street action, a flush mob. This was not there before. New topics of seminars. For example, a lecture on non -standard gender identities. The homophobic law has been adopted, and there will be a lecture - what was the practice of its application for this year. Purely from a legal point of view. The feminists said they want to postcate: LGBT activism or feminism-which is more effective. This year, a hippy rainbow festival takes place, in which there is a talent contest at which anyone can speak. These are both entertaining and cultural and discussion different events.
