The recognition was gone

The Polynesian state of Tuval abandoned the recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. This was reported on the website of the Georgian Foreign Ministry.

On Monday, the head of the Mayan Pangidze department and her Tuvaluan colleague Taucelina Finicaso signed a protocol in Tbilisi on the establishment of diplomatic and consular relations between the two countries. The document, among other things, says: "Tuvalu recognizes the territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized boundaries, including its regions Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvalsky region (South Ossetia)."

Tuvalu recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in September 2011. According to Civil.ge, after that, the then Prime Minister of the Polynesian state, Willy Midvyvi, twice visited the capital of Abkhazia Sukhumi. However, in August 2013, Televi was dismissed, and Enel Sopoaga became the new prime minister, who criticized his predecessor for recognizing regions that have broken off without consultations with parliament.

In July 2013, the recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia was withdrawn by another country of Oceania - Vanuatu . Thus, today only four states recognize the independence of these regions: Russia, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Nauru.
