Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting with the head of the government of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksenov gave it an instruction: to launch a banking system on the peninsula.
“Naturally, the task is to fully launch the functioning of the monetary system of Russia in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol,” Interfax quotes the head of government.
Medvedev promised that in the near future, "all this will be done so that all the inhabitants of our country who live with you feel comfortable and understand that they have a large state, and their contributions, their money is provided by the Russian Federation, are provided with those rules that operate on the territory of our country."
The work of the banking and settlement systems of Crimea and Sevastopol is one of the questions that will be considered today at the visiting meeting of the government in the Crimea.
According to Kommersant with reference to its sources, budget calculations, including receiving money from Russia, their distribution, as well as the receipt of taxes, will be carried out by the Crimean Bank, the Bank of Sevastopol and the field institution of the Russian Central Bank.
Two Ukrainian commercial banks will join them: the Black Sea Bank for Development and Reconstruction (CBRR) and the Bank of the Sea, registered in the Crimea. They have already expressed a desire to continue their work, obeying Russian law, and about 14 billion rubles of ruble cash have already been brought to the region, according to the publication.
According to the newspaper, the CBRR belongs to a group of persons close to the new government of Crimea. The Bank "Marine" is owned by a Russian businessman who has a number of assets on the peninsula. On the sites of the banks themselves, beneficiaries from among individuals are not disclosed.
In addition to participating in budget settlements, two Crimean banks will become the basis of the banking system of the region.
The opportunity to continue work in Crimea is also considering a number of Ukrainian banks, their "about five, they have several dozen branches in the region," said one of the interlocutors of the newspaper. Among those who wish were one international player who has a Ukrainian “daughter” in Crimea, and in the rest of Russia - Russian. It is possible that we are talking about Raiffeisenbank.
In addition, according to the publication, Ukrainian subsidiaries of VTB and Sberbank groups can continue to work in the region, although this will increase the risks of their business in Ukraine, where the bill on the occupied territories is being prepared.
In addition, the authors of the concept count on the parish of other Russian players in the region. If their project is adopted by the government for the base, by May 1 the banking system of Crimea can be formed from more than 100 functioning departments.
