The author of the famous "sky. Airplane. Girl "shot a new film - a kind of protest against" The Law of Dima Yakovlev "

Vera Storozheva is a director, producer, screenwriter, actress. She graduated from the Moscow State Institute of Culture (1983) and the highest courses of scriptwriters and directors (1993), workshop of Alexander Mitta. She debuted in directing in 1999 on NTV, in the documentary-game mini-series Leonid Parfenov “Living Pushkin” (TEFI Award). The debut in the film director - “Heaven. Airplane. Girl ”(2002). The director of the films “Frenchman”, “Spring soon”, “My boyfriend is an angel” and others. The film “Traveling with Pets” in 2007 received the Golden George Grand Prix at the MMKF. Her new film “Nine Days and one Morning” is a story about two former pupils of a provincial orphanage, whose fates developed differently. Anna took the French childless couple into her family. In France, she grew up, studied, became a fashion model and the face of a cosmetic company, which sent her to the former hometown with a charity and advertising campaign. On a holiday in the orphanage, Anna meets Lyuba, a local chromonoma banner. She is also an orphanage, her mother died during a fire. The picture “Nine days and one morning” is now watching the selectors of film festivals, after the festival season it will be released. Vera Storozheva told The New Times about her heroines and the idea of the film. The ordeal of the soul is faith, in this film you are not only a director, but also a producer. Tell us how you managed to get state funding? We submitted the script for the competition to the Ministry of Culture. They chose the lot that suited us on the topic. The scheme is this: the Ministry of Culture first collects applications from film companies, certain lots are formulated under them, thematically close projects compete in them. There were only two scenarios in our lot, so we won without a big struggle. There was a problem to get additional funds - 30%, because the ministry gives only 70% of the budget. We found additional money. You yourself have more than once have to evaluate other people's scenarios in the Ministry of Culture Commission. There are many applications for relevant topics? Quite a little, the majority of serial quality. It is immediately obvious that it will turn out not the film, but "soap." Serious topics and qualitatively written scripts are not enough. "
“I wanted an ambiguous story where there are no best and worst, right and guilty. It was important to break the stereotypes of perception "
“What seems to you the most important in the new film? I am always interested in the fate of a person. I wanted to reflect on how much it depends on external circumstances and the personality itself. Even about what happiness is, how it is connected or not connected with visible well -being, where harmony in a person comes from and why it is so difficult to achieve. The very idea of the film appeared because I really wanted to remove Anna Shcherbinina and Anna Shcherbinina and Anna Shcherbinina and I. Olga Popov, but I saw an elusive resemblance to them, and when I met the filmmaker Anna Kozlov, with whom we made a television multi -part film “Divorce”, the idea gradually took place in a great scenario - very ridiculous history. Stereotypes of perception: in Russia it is good, because the homeland, and in the West, is because there are actually no right and no happy. Finally, the film was already on the mounting table, a clear form appeared: several days that our Anna spent in the hometown of the city, gathered in nine small chapters, with a farewell scene in the final. And immediately the previous options for the names of the film were disappeared, a new one was born - "Nine days and one morning." Here, not only household, but also some symbolic meaning. According to Orthodox teaching: for nine days a confused soul, ordeals are laid, and when it passes them, morning comes.

Anna Shcherbinina, who played Anya, like her heroine, lives in France, made a career as a model. She is a new face in our cinema, but one cannot fail to notice her resemblance to Renata Litvinova, with whom you made your first film “Heaven. Airplane. Young woman". Is this an accident? This is probably some kind of my favorite type. Renata Litvinova, Ksenia Kutepova, who starred in “Traveling with Pets”, Alena Babenko, now Anna Shcherbina. Outwardly a little cold, restrained, with strong emotions inside. In each of them there is sophistication, fragility, pallor, special to become. But Lyuba - Olga Popova - on the contrary, warm, open, as if completely simple. With a difficult character. She loves to shoot Kira Muratov in her films. Difficult on the set with her own daughter? It’s easy for me to, she is very independent, collected, responsible and organic. Olya always wanted to be a director, graduated from VGIK, now she is studying at the oldest and very famous American film school School of Cinematic Arts at the USC University of California. She was finished by George Lucas, Gregg Araki, Robert Zemeckis. She herself acted, she only told us when she was accepted. Her acting abilities were the first to notice Kira Muratova, she invited Olya to act to her. For Kira Muratova, you wrote a script for one of the “three stories”, played in her “asthenic syndrome”. Have you been familiar with her for a long time? It began with the fact that when I was 20 years old and I was a student of the Institute of Culture, my future husband, director and screenwriter Sergei Popov, led me to the house of the movie, and we watched “Knowing the White Light” by Kira Muratova, where he made his debut as an actor. I have not seen such films before. It was then that we met. At that time, I did not think about working in the cinema. But once Kira told Seryozha, and he told me that "a good director would have made me from faith." Her words sunk into my soul. And in 1991, I entered the highest directorial courses when I already had two children. You learned to the film director and ended up on television. Why? At that moment it seemed that it was absolutely impossible to make a movie, then the whole industry fell upon. And on NTV, where I came, there were wonderful people and great opportunities. I was invited to make the Living Pushkin cycle with Leonid Parfyonov, this is my favorite television work, a unique and priceless experience. Then with Pasha Lobkov made the Mausoleum program. The time was good. And with Sveta Sorokina worked together, and with Evgeny Kiselev. Then, Renata Litvinova began to discuss the remake “Once again about love” and came up with “Heaven. Airplane. Young woman".

The end of the film is an unexpected Russia in nine days, the Russian Frenchwoman looks at Russian life with some amazement, in many ways it is already incomprehensible. Do you think this film will understand foreigners? At the very beginning of the work, I allowed the French to read the script, we had an idea to make co -products. The boyfriend of our heroine was played by the magnificent theater artist Xavier Galle, very popular in France. But for the international project, long negotiations and approval are needed, and then I planned the time of filming. So this did not work out with this, although everyone liked the script. In February, there was a working show of a ready-made film on the Berlinale film market, there the German lady-producer was surprised-they say, this is unexpected for Russia. Why? We shot last spring in Rostov the great, unusual beauty of the lake, space, church, high clear sky. In everything that the cameras of the operator Mikhail Iskandarov saw, there is no dirt, hopelessness, chernukhi. Our story is sad, but also very clear. We wanted to make a film that the roots of everything that then happens with a person was laid in childhood. Children deprived of families, abandoned children - they, like plants that initially twisted the root system, then they carry this injury all their lives. This is a very sore subject, especially for our country, where there are so many orphanages, and now also problems with adoption, which is allowed to be one, the other is not. "
“I am very bad about the prohibitions on adoption. Moreover, the state does not cope with its task of protecting childhood. "
“The film was shot even to all state tantrums about foreign adoptive parents. So it coincided? Yes, I got into the nerve. I am very bad about all the prohibitions on adoption, it is bad and unfair to deprive children and adults at least some opportunities to become a family. Moreover, the state with its childhood protection task has not been very successfully coping. For decades, people have pushed that public is higher than personal. From there the destruction of the family, when the philistine was called home, ridiculed the natural desire to take their own nest, take care of loved ones, did not allow a person to feel like a person, did not accustom to their own, of course, a lot has changed, but the consequences of this education have been changing today. Kipling: “The West is the West, the East is the East, and they can’t converge together”? We now see something similar in the relationship of Russia and Ukraine: like a sister, but each has its own path. It is impossible to force or disconnect.
