Since April 1, the Russian State Board of Authority began issuing a new -sample driver’s licenses. In new rights, additional categories and subcategories have appeared - now there are 16 of them.

The essence of the changes mainly comes down to the "crushing" of existing categories. For example, category A1 is added - motorcycles with an engine volume of up to 125 cubic meters fall into it. See all citizens who have handed over categories A to the rights can drive any motorcycles, and those who decided to obtain the rights of subcategory A1 are only those that fall into their characteristics into this group.

For example, the B1 category for tricycles and ATVs, and C1 for small trucks, weighing less than 7.5 tons also appear.

However, the innovation is the most noticeable for Russians is permission to take an exam in the traffic police by car with an automatic gearbox.

Before the new law entered into force, the Russians could take an exam for the right to drive a car only by car with a manual box. At the same time, in the largest Russian cities, in which the level of motorization is higher than the national average in the country, most citizens buy foreign cars with an automatic box, travel exclusively around the city, and often through traffic jams and never even encounter “mechanics”.

This fact caused future motorists a completely reasonable desire not to waste time training in driving a machine with a manual box, still in the future, knowledge about the clutch pedal and the gearbox lever would not be needed. In the traffic police, citizens who studied driving on the “automatic” could not be physically passing the exam and were one of those who “corrupted” officers of the traffic police.

For those who have the right to drive cars exclusively with an automatic gearbox of special categories and subcategories, not allocated, the AT mark will simply be on their certificate.

However, so far, in any case, in the coming weeks, no one will receive a driver’s licenses with the AT mark - at first the traffic police must purchase the relevant cars, and the government approve the corresponding document.

Innovations, in addition to lovers of cars with automatic boxes and, for example, ATVs, affect another group of citizens: mopedists.

According to the new rules, citizens will be able to drive a moped, that is, a two -wheeled vehicle with an engine volume of less than 50 cubic centimeters, only after passing the exam in the traffic police. Earlier, a bicycle and a motorcycle hybrid ( a bicycle with a Kiev motor) could sit down at the wheel of a 16 -year -old citizen.

The owner of a driver’s license of any category will be able to manage the moped, if the citizen wants to manage exclusively by the moped, or has not yet reached the age of 18, he will be issued the rights of the Category M. So far, the traffic police inspectors are ordered not to fine young lovers of mopeds for the lack of rights, since the state still did not manage to give the necessary number of documents physically. But soon, during a trip on the moped, it will be necessary to have a driver’s license in your pocket ..

Close attention of legislators to mopeds is associated with the growth of their popularity. In cities, on ordinary cars, you can easily ride due to traffic jams, and the moped is a cheap, fast and fairly comfortable means of transportation, in any case, in the warm season.

Too easy attitude to the mopeds caused the unlucking statistics of an accident: each fifth accident occurs with the participation of a moped, and their drivers are most often younger than 18 years. If in 2011 the number of accidents with this category of vehicles increased by 1.5 percent, then in 2012 - by all 5 percent.

Moped drivers until recently turned out to be unpunished. The penalty for driving a moped did not exceed 500 rubles, as for cyclists with cabs. Now, in addition to the mandatory exam, the owners of the moped will have to register them, so they will not be able to abandon their transport and hide in the nearest yard in the event of an accident - and such cases, oddly enough, sometimes happened, because the moped is often cheaper than repairs.

Another innovation in the procedure for passing exams is the abolition of the external. Today, anyone can come to the traffic police with a medical certificate and passport, pass an exam and get rights. According to the adopted law, before passing the exams, only "who has passed in the prescribed manner will be allowed in the established manner or retraining." In fact, this means that the traffic police will require a certificate of passing the course in a driving school, and the driving schools themselves must receive a license in the traffic police.

The introduction of new categories, noted in the traffic police, leads Russian norms in line with the requirements of the road traffic convention. The traffic police hope that the introduction of new subcategories will simplify the training of drivers who, for example, want to drive small trucks or minibuses - they will not need to take an exam on the management of heavy vehicles or real buses, respectively.

At the same time, the traffic police changed the form of an international driver’s license that Russian drivers can receive. It also appears in subcategories, as well as the possibility of putting the mark on the management of the car only with an automatic gearbox. For this, opposite the corresponding category, the note "Automatic Transmission Only" will be placed.

The traffic police emphasize that despite the introduction of a new type of certificate, the owners of old driver’s rights should not urgently exchange them - they will be valid before the deadline for them.
