"Anne-Marie's day still starts at five in the morning. First, she gives a small breakfast to the dairy cows so that they wake up. Then she milks them. Then she brings a milk breakfast to the baby. Next, the milking and resting cows receive a large breakfast of hay. Now there are a dozen on the farm milking cows and the same number of “resting” ones (in the annual break between milkings). They stand opposite each other in two different parts of the barn.

The last to receive food are the young (cows that have never given milk before, up to three years old). Except for one, all the cows on the farm are now Jersey breeds. This breed originally originated from England and is noted for its beauty and small size."
