Maguett. "Mediawind"

Combining private architectural practice with studying at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Muscovite Dmitry Drozdov stubbornly abstracts from everything that characterizes the modern musician. He is extremely rarely performed, produces records even less often (the previous full -format album Maguett came out as much as seven years ago) and generally prefers not to associate his work directly with music, hiding behind illusory terms like “metamaketes” and “hyperlinks”.

Maybe this is exactly this approach allows its new album to fit into modern reality so successfully. This is a music about the nerve of constant presence on the network and an endless stream of information noise - today's owners of smartphones pay such a price for departure from brutal reality. This is the music of internal stress-a fragile embossed is cut by an electronic bat, pop and R&B are invaded into a foggy Dab-space, and the nameless voices sing to the accompaniment of pulsating noise. The Muscovite has his new album in a stretched gap between the sound vanguard of the end of the last century and the actual electronics of the zero - the path here is already laid by the Petrozavodsk Duet Love Cult , one of the main export items in domestic experimental music of recent years, and it may well be that Dmitry Drozdov will follow in the same direction.

What I do is not identified by me as music. These are rather images that should be sent to the imagination of the “viewer”. In general, I never had such a solution - “write music”; Rather, there was a need to find another measurement of reality.

The structure of the album, a selection of tracks - all this does not seem important to me. I am more inclined to think about the process of creativity as a whole - how to better use sensations, images, personal attachment, etc. If at the time of forming the record I came to my arm other compositions, the tracklist would be different. The audio, like visual, the embodiment of a particular idea for me is secondary, although socially, of course, I feel the need for such an accent. But today I want more. I will continue to interpret reality.
