“We cannot agree to a new iron curtain. We cannot give Ukraine to Putin or allow it to share it. We should not allow war. Western countries should confront Putin,” Valens said. “If he is forgiven now, it will end badly for all of us.”

According to the ex-president of Poland, the sanctions imposed on Russia are completely insufficient. As far as possible, Russia should be excluded from economic systems, Valens believes. "The first mistake of the West cost Poland fifty years of communism. Western Europe and the USA in relation to Ukraine are now making the same mistake," he said.

On Thursday, US President Barack Obama signed an “Act on the support of sovereignty, integrity, democracy and economic stability in Ukraine” , which provides for the allocation of financial assistance, as well as sanctions in connection with the Russian annexation of Crimea. The lawwas adopted on Tuesday by the House of Representatives , and previously approved by the Senate.
