In this situation, Aik chose to resign, explained on the corporate blog Mitchell Baker Executive President Mozilla Foundation, which owns Mozilla.

“We know why people are offended and angry, and they are right at the same time: the fact is that we were not true to ourselves,” Baker wrote. “We did not act as expected from Mozilla. We did not react quickly when the scandal began, and did not enter into dialogue. We should be better to act better.”

A few days ago, Aik told Guardian that he was not going to resign. According to him, his donation, although it was not secret, was still his personal affair. He also referred to the Code of behavior guided by Mozilla: not to bring to the office everything that is not significant for the company's mission. Aik expressed in that interview the conviction that if he resigned under the influence of the scandal, this will be a violation of the Mozilla code. However, on April 3, Baker stated in an interview that in the current circumstances, AIK could not lead the company. "The ability to lead - in particular for the general director - is fundamental for the post, and in our case it is impossible," she said.
