The opposition refused to hold the procession on April 13 in Moscow on Academician Sakharov Avenue - a route that was proposed by the capital's authorities.

"The organizing committee decided to generally refuse to hold the procession. The applicants of the action will seek the coordination of the rally on Sakharov Avenue, on the site between the Garden Ring and Turgenevskaya Square," Interfax reports with reference to the joint of the Solidarity movement, Peter Tsarkov.

"The proposal of the city hall does not fully suit the organizers. They decided to abandon the procession on Sakharov Avenue," Tsarkov said in the evening on Thursday, April 3, meetings of the "Committee of Protest Actions."

Last Monday, the “Committee of Protest Affairs” sent an application to the Moscow City Hall to hold a procession from Turgenevskaya to Pushkinskaya Square on April 13, where a rally was supposed to be held. According to the application, 50 thousand people will take part in the action.

Vasily Oleinik, deputy head of the regional security department and anti -corruption of the Moscow City Hall, stated on March 31 that the opposition indicated too much of the participants in the action - Turgenevskaya and Pushkin Square were not accommodated by 50 thousand people.

On Thursday, the Moscow authorities rejected the application of the “Committee of Protest Actions” and proposed an alternative option - a march along Sakharov Avenue, from house number 4 to house number 36, where it was proposed to hold a rally.

Earlier it was reported that the "Committee of Protest Actions", which previously held in the capital the "march for freedom" , is preparing to hold on April 13 the "March of Pravda". The main slogans of the events will be "for honest independent media!", "For the right to information!" and "for an open society, against xenophobia."

According to the opposition and journalist Alexander Ryklin, among the applicants of the current action is the writer Dmitry Bykov and political analyst Georgy Satarov. The opposition also added that someone "from media representatives" will speak at the event, but who, according to him, is still too early.

Ryklin also warned that "the rally will not pass in the usual format." “I can’t disclose all the details now, but (...) it will not be boring,” he promised mysteriously.
