Chile knows how to extract lessons from frequent natural disasters. When on February 27, 2010, an earthquake of magnitude 8.8 points happened here, the authorities did not have time to declare a storm warning in time. More than half a thousand people died, most of them are because of the tsunami. In order to prevent such losses in the future, special emergency bureaus were created everywhere, open 24 hours a day, so in 2014 the evacuation was organized almost instantly, and when on April 3, 45 minutes after the earthquake of 2.3 meters high reached the shore, there was no one here. And a few hours later, an army of policemen and military personnel worked in the injured areas, who dismantled the rubble in search of possible victims. But the police were not enough to catch prisoners of a women's prison in the city of Ikika, who escaped using the bustle.
Chileans have yet to calculate losses and restore the destroyed buildings, but one thing is clear: the country is ready for new challenges of nature.
