The Council of Council excluded the entry of troops into Ukraine without the UN sanction

Russia cannot be introduced by troops, including peacekeeping, into the territory of another country at the request of local authorities. This was recalled by the head of the Committee on Defense and Security of the Federation Council Viktor Ozerov.

“Our peacekeepers can only act within the framework of international legal norms, we had examples of the introduction of a peacekeeping contingent into the territory of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, but it was within the CIS, but just to take and introduce our peacekeeping contingent in Donetsk or somewhere else-this contradicts international principles and norms,” Interfax quotes him . “<...> Another thing is if the corresponding decision of the UN Security Council on the commissioning of peacekeepers is made.”

So the senator commented on the statement of the protesters who seized on Sunday the building of the Donetsk regional state administration in Donetsk. Having proclaimed the independence of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” , the audience said that they intend “in the case of aggressive actions by the illegitimate Kiev authorities <...> to contact the Russian Federation on the introduction of a temporary peacekeeping contingent to ensure the safety of the Donetsk region”.

Ozerov noted that the permission of the Federation Council to introduce troops into the Crimea was adopted as part of agreements on the Black Sea Fleet: Russia only “strengthened the protection” of its bases.

“We are satisfied that during the referendum we did not have to use our military and the Crimeans themselves decided their fate,” he added.
