About 30 people met the activist, including the co-chair of the Belarusian Christian Democracy, the former political prisoner Pavel Severinets and the ex-candidate for president of the country Alexander Milinkevich. As the Belarusian partisan clarifies , the next year and four months, freedom Avtukhovich will be under preventive supervision. He is forbidden to leave his home from 22:00 to 6:00, as well as leave his city.
In an interview with reporters, the opposition noted the support of activists from the will. “If there were no support, I would have been rotten,” he said. Avtukhovich added that in Belarusian prisons, many people die precisely because of the lack of such support.
The activist also said that he was repeatedly offered to submit a petition for pardon in the name of dictator Alexander Lukashenko. Avtukhovich considered these proposals unacceptable, explaining that he excludes for himself any cooperation with the regime.
When asked about the possibility of emigration, the oppositionist replied that so far he was not thinking about it.
51 -year -old Avtukhovich is a war veteran in Afghanistan. After resigning, he lived in the city of Volkovysk, Grodno region. He was engaged in business, was an opposition activist.
In October 2005, Avtukhovich was arrested on charges of tax failure. He was sentenced to three and a half years in the colony. Later, however, he was released, like another five Belarusian political prisoners, as a result of the strict sanctions of the United States and the European Union against the Lukashenko regime.
In February 2009, Avtukhovich, together with another entrepreneur and opposition, Vladimir Osipenko, was arrested on charges of arson of the policeman’s house in 2005, as well as in preparing attempts at the chairman of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee and deputy minister of taxes and fees. During the court, most accusations were removed from activists. Nevertheless, in May 2010, both were found guilty under Article 295 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (illegal actions against firearms, ammunition and explosives). Avtukhovich was given 5 years 2 months of strict regime, Osipenko - 3 years.
In January 2012, the court tightened the conditions of serving the sentence, recognizing him as a "malicious violator of the regime." After that, Avtukhovich was transferred from colony No. 5 in Ivatsevich, Brest region, to the Grodno prison No. 1.
In September 2013, the activist opened his belly with a blade in protest against illegal penalties. As reported, the prison administration invariably brought to Politzek new penalties just before repaying the previous ones. This deprived him of the opportunity to receive parcels and transfers in the volumes provided to other prisoners, and also entailed restrictions on dates with relatives. In addition, a large number of penalties threatened Avtukhovich with the involvement under Article 411 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (malicious disobedience to the requirements of the administration of a correctional institution), which could be fraught with the addition of a deadline or the appointment of supervision after liberation.
