Russia Today again became the subject of criticism. But if earlier it came from the employees of the American unit of the canal - RT America - who did not want to "fulfill the actions" of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine, now we are talking about the investigative bodies of the United States. Fraud accusations were brought by the owner of the RTTV America television company Alexei Yazlovsky, who, according to tax documents, was worked by employees of the American branch of the Russian channel. However, the RT management itself claims non -involvement in tax fraud.
The RTTV America television company is a counterparty of the Russian State television channel in the United States. The information that Alexei Yazlovsky was dealing with the investigation and admitted to distort information in tax returns to conceal revenues on April 1. However, this story acquired a public outcry only a few days later.
According to the recognition of Yazlovsky, which, as follows from the official documents published on the Internet, he made in mid -May 2013, starting in 2002, he indicated false data in corporate and personal declarations. This was done in order to hide income worth about 2.6 million dollars. In addition, the investigators found out that the Russian also illegally received a benefit of 1.2 million dollars, and also used an undeclared bank account in Luxembourg.
Yazlovsky withdrew money from the United States to Luxembourg through a shell company called Sedy Systems, which was owned by the personal accountant of the Russian Nadav Kalai. Yazlovsky admitted to investigators that he specially created this company to avoid taxes. Despite the fact that the Russian began to engage in financial fraud in 2002, the first tranche through Sedy Systems was carried out only on December 29, 2008.
Russia Today began broadcasting in December 2005. RTTV America was registered in the same year in Colombia. The documents said that its official area of activity is the production of television content. According to the American publication Washington Free Beacon , the company's annual income is on average at $ 2.4 million.
In RTTV America, 45 people work. At the same time, according to tax forms W2, which were submitted by employees of the American unit of the Russian television channel, they are officially listed as employees of the Yazlovsky company.
Roman Tokman’s commercial director Roman Tokman denies the direct connection of the channel with RTTV America. The editor -in -chief of the Russian television channel Margarita Simonyan, in an interview with the journalist of Kommersant, admitted that the company Yazlovsky is a counterpart of RT, but the television channel "has no right to check how they pay taxes and conduct economic activities." She called the Russian businessman’s trial in the USA “ordinary ordinary history”, which, according to her, the Western media inflate into the “wild scandal”.
This is not the first resonant story around Russia Today. In mid -March, the YouTube video hosting page was temporarily blocked "in connection with numerous or serious violations of the rules." Later, the channel was unlocked with the explanation that the lock was the result of a technical error. And in early March, two American leading television channels Ebbi Martin and Liz Wal performed sharply criticism of Russia for its actions in Ukraine.
