Earlier, the White House representative Josh Ernest reported that the United States extended the term of stay in the Black Sea of Truxtun destroyer there and plan to send additional resources there. The NBC television channel previously reported the arrival of the destroyer Donald Cook this week.
The destroyer with the Donald Cook controlled missile, which is based in Spain, belongs to the class of destroyers "Arly Burke". It is equipped with a Ijis air defense system with missile defense missiles, as well as Tomagavk cruise missiles.
According to CNN, there was no official statement about the sending of the second destroyer from the Pentagon to the Black Sea, sources report this on the terms of anonymity.
Last Thursday, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that the extension of the US ships in the Black Sea often exceeded the terms established by the Montrem International Convention. According to the minister, the Montreus Convention introduces absolutely clear criteria that restrict the presence of foreign naval vessels in the Black Sea of Naval-Sea states, both in tonight and in terms of stay. Lavrov drew attention to the fact that recently, the US naval ships have been extended a couple of times outside the set deadlines, and the extension did not always fit into the rules that exist within the framework of the Convention.
In turn, the official representative of the Pentagon Eileen Lines rejected the accusations of violation of the Montreus Convention, saying that the US Navy acts there in accordance with international law.
