The shooting "Battle of Sevastopol" continued in Kyiv

Filming of the Russian-Ukrainian film “The Battle of Sevastopol” directed by Sergei Mokritsky resumed in Kyiv.

The script of the film is taken by an excerpt from the biography of one of the most famous snipers of World War II, Hero of the Soviet Union Lyudmila Pavlichenko. She is also known for becoming the first Soviet citizen to visit the American White House. By coincidence, after her speech to the US Congress in 1943, the Americans opened the second front. Most of the film is associated with the events of the defense of Sevastopol 1941–42.

On the first shooting day of the second block in one of the mansions of Kyiv, Pavichenko’s visit was shot to the White House. Pavlyuchenko is played by Julia Peresild (played in the film “Territory”), Nikita Tarasov (“Intimate places”, “Kitchen”) and Evgeny Tsyganov (“Brest Fortress”, “Peter FM”) are also shot in the film). In Kyiv, British actress Joan Blekhm (Bridget Jones), playing the role of Eleanor Roosevelt, joined Kiev.

The film is planned to be created in the format of a full -length picture and a four -part television film. Filming is planned to be completed in July, the picture will be released in May 2015, to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
