Russia was deprived of the right to vote in PACE

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe deprived Russia by the end of 2014 the right to vote for her annexation of Crimea, RIA Novosti reports. As the Ukrainian Pravda clarifies , 145 deputies out of 188 those present voted for such a decision. 21 The deputy opposed this measure, 22 abstained.

In addition, Russia is prohibited from participating in governing bodies and observation missions PACE.

During the discussion of the draft resolution, the deputies rejected four radical amendments, which demanded to completely deprive the Russian delegation of authority in the Assembly. At the same time, PACE promised to tighten the sanctions against Moscow if she did not refuse the annexation of Crimea.

The head of the Russian delegation in PACE Uneneros Alexei Pushkov called the discussion of the resolution "by the parade of Russophobia", noting that Russian deputies refused not only to participate in the discussion, but also to be in the hall while the discussion was underway. The demand to deprive Russia of powers in the assembly of Pushkov regarded the "political extremism and the path to the Cold War, by the end of the pan -European parliamentary dialogue." “In the relationship of Russia and PACE - the most acute crisis in history,” said Uneneros. “Now Russia is in an inch from tearing all relations with PACE.”

On the eve of Pase adopted a resolution with condemning the annexation of Crimea by Russia. "The Assembly decisively condemns Russian military aggression and the subsequent annexation of Crimea, which is a clear violation of international law, including the provisions of the United Nations Charter, the OSCE Helsinki act and the main norms of the European Council. None of the arguments that the Russian Federation resorts to justify its actions," the document says.

The Assembly concluded that the department of Crimea was initiated and provoked by the Russian authorities under the guise of military intervention. Pase also expressed concerns about the Russian military presence on the border with Ukraine. In this regard, she recommended the states that signed the Budapest memorandum to conclude real security agreements to ensure sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

On April 1, the State Duma in 446 votes adopted a statement in which she regarded the idea of ​​depriving the Russian delegation of authority in PACE as a “destructive step”.

During the discussion, the communist Tamara Pletnev invited Russia to leave Pase herself. Pushkov actually supported this initiative. “If we put up the powers ourselves, then our opponents will have nothing to vote for,” Unicoros explained. He added that the delegation will take this step if PACE will be inclined to strict sanctions against Russia.
