The Crimean Constitution entered into force

The new Constitution of Crimea, which declares the peninsula part of the territory of Russia, has officially entered into force. The text of the document was published in the newspaper " Crimean Izvestia " - the official publication of the parliament of the republic.

The State Council of Crimea the day before unanimously voted for a new constitution. “Thus, the day of the Constitution of the Republic of Crimea, the day of the Constitution of the Republic of Crimea should be considered on April 12,” Grigory Iooffe, Deputy Chairman of the State Council of Crimea, told RIA Novosti .

According to him, the priority plan is to explain the provisions of the Constitution to the population, into which, however, in the near future, editing may still be made. “We are the creators of our constitution. There will be a need, we will get together at the meeting of the State Council of Crimea and the constitutional majority will vote on an this or that issue, ”Ioffe said.

At the moment, the document states that the Republic of Crimea is a legal and democratic state within Russia. The highest official who will be the head of the republic will elect deputies of the State Council for a period of five years, but not more than two terms in a row.

It is assumed that the current Prime Minister of Crimea Sergey Aksenov will be offered to the post of head of the republic. Aksenov himself expressed his readiness to lead the republic. “If the President of Russia entrusts, if the State Council entrusts, I am ready to take this position,” he said earlier.
