© "Time"Today, a laureate of the Russian National Prize “Poet” of 2014 is announced at a press conference in Moscow. They became Gennady Rusakov.
According to the charter of the award, only now living poets who write in Russian can be rewarded with it. No preliminary list of candidates is provided. During the year, the jury, according to publications, tracks the creative life of different poets and then call the name of the best. The winner is awarded a cash prize of 50 thousand dollars.
Gennady Alexandrovich Rusakov was born in 1938 in the village. Novo-Golskoye Voronezh region. He was brought up in an orphanage, homeless, studied at the Suvorov School and at the Literary Institute, and graduated from the 1st Moscow Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages.
For several decades, he worked as a synchronist translator in the UN Secretariat and other international organizations. Podftly speaks a number of European languages.
Having debuted at the age of 22, the book of the poems “Throat Winds” (Kuibyshev, 1960) fell silent and again began to be printed only after 20 years.
Books of poems “The length of the breath” (1980), “Time of Bird” (1985), “Rick” (1989), “Talking with God” (2003), “Poems Tatyana” (2005), “Favorites” (2008) and a collection of poetic translations “Sonnets of contemporaries of Shakespeare” (1987) were published. The new verses of Rusakov are published mainly in the magazines “Banner”, “Friendship of Peoples”, “New World”, translated into French.
