The United States allocated 11.4 million dollars to Ukraine for early presidential elections

The United States provided assistance to 11.4 million dollars in order to organize early presidential elections scheduled for May 25. The funds were allocated through the foreign policy and the US International Development (UMR) department, as ITAR-TASS reports with reference to the official representative of the State Department Jen Psaki.

Washington expects that this will contribute to the “free, honest and peaceful elections” of the head of the Ukrainian state, the American diplomat noted.

Money will be used to support local and international observers, improve the voting process, and provide voters with the necessary information.

In addition, the United States will assist the Government of Ukraine in the implementation of economic reforms, including those that will be provided for by the program of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). To do this, a group of American experts from the Ministry of Finance and UMR went to Kyiv for meetings with colleagues from the Ministry of Finance and the National Bank.

"The United States also help Ukraine in the search for stolen assets and the fight against corruption," Psaki said. According to her, these problems are already discussed in Kyiv with American experts from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Justice and the FBI. They will advise the Ukrainian government on the "investigation and collection of evidence necessary for the return of stolen assets abroad," the Russian BBC Service said.

In addition, on April 29-30, the United States and Great Britain will hold an international conference with the participation of representatives of world financial centers that will assist Ukraine in the search for assets illegally withdrawn abroad.

"We also help Ukraine withstand politically motivated trade restrictions on the part of Russia, including in the field of energy," the State Department noted, as the Russian BBC service writes.

Speaking of military assistance, the representative of the State Department noted that the United States transferred about 300 thousand food rations for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and continue to study their needs. “In accordance with this, we will decide how to provide assistance to Ukraine in the field of security,” Psaki said, emphasizing that in any case, the United States intends to pay the main attention to “diplomacy and economic assistance”. “We do not see the possibility of resolving this crisis by military means,” she added.

Earlier it was reported that enterprising Ukrainians began to sell dry rations arriving from the United States through the Internet .

Earlier on Monday, April 14, Washington and Kiev entered into an agreement on the provision of US government loans in the amount of $ 1 billion.

In general, the international community plans to provide assistance to Ukraine in the next two years about $ 27 billion, of which 14-18 billion should be received under the IMF program.
