Igor Surerovich Melamed was born in Lviv in 1961, in 1981 he graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Chernivtsi University, in 1986 - the Gorky Literary Institute (Evgeny Vinokurov poetry seminar).

The first poetic publications of Melamed were published in the magazines “Literary Study” (1981), “Change” (1982), “Youth” (1983, 1987). Subsequently, it was actively published in the magazines New World, October, Arion, Continent, in the Literary Newspaper and various almanacs. The author of the books “Insomnia” (1994), “In Black Paradise” (1998) and “Retribution” (2010).

From the translations of Melamed, the poems of William Wordsworth are most famous, he also translated another English -speaking poetic classics - John Donna, Samuel Coleridge, Edgar in. In 2011, the book “Lyrical Ballads and other poems”, the first edition (1798) of the famous joint collection of Wordsworth and Kolridge, was published entirely by Melamed.

Among the literary and critical works of Melamed “poisoned source” (1995), “perfection and self-expression” (1997), “poet and mob” (2008).

In 1988-1990 he was the editor of the criticism of the Yunost magazine, in 1990-1997 he worked as a researcher at the Boris Pasternak Museum in Poselkin.

Laureate of the Gorky Literary Prize (2010), honorary diploma of the Moscow Account Award (2011), special award of the Union of Russian Writers "For the preservation of the traditions of Russian poetry" (as part of the International Voloshinsky Prize, 2011).
