Durov refused to issue the FSB personal data of the creators of the Euromaidan groups

In December 2013, the FSB demanded that VKontakte issue personal data to the organizers of the Euromaidan groups. This was announced on his page by the general director of the social network Pavel Durov. “Our answer was and remains a categorical refusal - the jurisdiction of Russia does not apply to Ukrainian users VKontakte,” Durov said.

Durov said that the issuance of these data would not only be a violation of the law, but the betrayal of "millions of residents of Ukraine who trusted us."

In addition, the founder of VKontakte refused the prosecutor’s demand to close the group “War of corruption - Alexey Navalny” (a community dedicated to the activities of the Rospil Foundation). In confirmation of his words, Durov published on his pages the scanned documents from the FSB and the Prosecutor General’s Office.

In January, it became known that Pavel Durov sold the remaining 12% of his VKontakte shares to the Director General of MegaFon and the co -owner of the holding, Ivan Tavrin, and ceased to be the owner of the social network. On April 1, Durov announced his departure from the post of general director of the social network, but a day later he admitted that the message was an Aprilian joke.
