Within the framework of the International Motor Show in New York, Subaru conducted the world's world premiere of the new generation Outback. True, the car retained the previous platform and engines, but received an updated exterior and interior design, as well as many new options. In the USA, car sales will start this summer.

Fifth generation Outback dimensions are 4817 mm in length, 1840 mm in width and 1680 mm in height. Compared to the predecessor, the car became 2.7 cm longer, 2 cm wider and 1.5 cm higher. The wheelbase has not changed and is 2745 mm. According to Carscope , the fifth generation model is designed in the style of the Legacy Sedan of the new generation, which was presented in February this year. In particular, the new outback has a large hexagonal grille of the radiator, surrounded by arrow -shaped headlights.

The new Outback will be offered with two gasoline engines - the same as that of the new Legacy: a 2.5 -liter four -cylinder capacity of 177 hp. (235 Nm of torque) and a 3.6-liter six-cylinder capacity of 260 hp. (334 nm). Both engines are combined with the Lineartronic variator and a symmetrical all-wheel drive, supplemented by X-Mode function, which increases running qualities on bad roads. Also, the car received the Active Torque Vectoring traction vector control system, which allows you to more accurately pass.

All new electronic assistants installed on Legacy will now be available for the new Outback. So, the car received the new generation Eyesight, recognized by the US Road Security Insurance Institute for the best in its class. The system prevents collisions with cars and pedestrians driving in front, can recognize colors, including traffic light signals.

The car will also be offered for the car SRF (Steering Responsive Fog), which automatically turns on the fog light from the right side when entering the turn, thereby improving visibility at night.
