In the Donetsk region, pro -Russian activists, whom the Ukrainian authorities consider separatists, have achieved a number of serious success. This will extremely negatively affect the possibility of stabilizing the situation in the region, says Dmitry Timchuk, journalist and head of the Center for Military-Political Research. He repeated his opinion regarding the further development of the situation. Having achieved success in one area, activists will try to arrange provocations in neighboring regions, the expert notes.
Timchuk recalled sabotagein Slavyansk and promotions in Kramatorsk . According to him, the actions of activists are performed in order to give the Russian authorities an occasion to declare that there is a "civil war" in Ukraine. At the same time, according to the "Today" publication, Timchuk does not consider it very likely that Russia will introduce troops into the eastern regions of Ukraine. "The calls to introduce troops is blackmail aimed at the Ukrainian authorities in order to force referenda to force," Timchuk said. In his opinion, the "rocking" of the situation also enables Russia to carry out diplomatic pressure on Ukraine.
At the same time, according to the expert, the lack of effective actions within the framework of the anti -terrorist operation - in particular, does not block the "foci of extremism" - helps opponents of the authorities: this allows armed activists to freely move around the region, destabilizing the situation in various settlements.
The Government of Ukraine calls on Russia to fulfill the Geneva agreements
Meanwhile, the Cabinet of Ministers made a statement in which he called on Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukrainian territory. The document notes that five days have passed since the signing of Geneva agreements . Ukraine, according to the Cabinet of Ministers, fulfilled its part of obligations: in particular, suspended the active phase of the anti -terrorist operation. The government of the country urged Russia to contribute to the stabilization of the situation - to withdraw its saboteurs from the eastern regions. The Ukrainian authorities several times stated that they have evidence of the involvement of Russia's special services in the riots in the East. American high -ranking officials are also talking about this.
The Cabinet of Ministers, in addition, turned to those citizens of Ukraine who "chose the path of violence." "The Ukrainian authorities are ready to listen to all the legal political requirements of the Ukrainian people in the east and in the West. And not only to listen, but also to meet," the report said.
At the same time, the government recalled that a bill was introduced to the Verkhovna Rada on the exemption of the participants in the riots from liability who will hand over weapons and free the captured administrative buildings. In addition, the government initiated constitutional reform based on decentralization and expansion of the powers of the regions.
The presidential candidate of Ukraine and the leader of the Fatherland Party Yulia Tymoshenko, who has traveled to Donetsk twice in the last days, promised pro -Russian activists to increase the status of the Russian language. However, Vladimir Makovich, the speaker of the Presidium of the self -proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, said that administrative buildings would be released only when the government in Kyiv resigned.
Recall that the last weeks in the south -east of the country - first of all, in the Donetsk region - there are protests of pro -Russian activists. In several cities, protesters blocked administrative buildings.
