According to the Federal Statistical Department of Germany, Germany notes an increase in the number of breweries and a simultaneous reduction in demand for beer. In 2013, there were 1,349 breweries in the country, which is 9 more than a year earlier.

At the same time, only 94.6 million hectolitras of the foamy drink were sold last year - the smallest volume in the last quarter century, DW -World reports.

At the same time, experts note a significant increase in beer exports beyond the EU, for example, in the USA and China.

Data on the state of brewing in the country was published on the eve of the day of German beer, which is celebrated on April 23.

Almost 70% of German breweries working in accordance with the law on the purity of beer adopted at the beginning of the 16th century is located in three federal lands. More than 600, that is, half of all plants, is located in Bavaria, about 200 - in Baden -Württemberg and about one and a half hundred - in the Northern Rhine -Westphalia.

In January of this year, the Antimonopoly Office of Germany fined a number of German breweries on a total of almost 340 million euros, which is one of the highest fines in the history of the country. Officials said that as a result of a price conspiracy, 11 breweries, one association of brewers and several individuals consumer expenses increased by hundreds of millions of euros per year.

According to the results of recent studies, the most popular among the Germans are varieties of the Pilzer type, as well as drinks in which beer is mixed with brine or lemonade. Less often, Germans buy varieties like "Lag".
