Putin: “Yandex” was created under the influence of the West

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the largest Russian Internet search engine "Yandex" began as a project with Western influence.

Putin made this statement today, April 24, on a media forum in St. Petersburg, organized by the coalition of socio-political organizations, the All-Russian Popular Front (ONF), the leader of which is Putin, Interfax reports.

According to the head of state, when Yandex was just starting his work on its creators, forcing to appoint a certain number of Europeans and Americans to the governing bodies.

The President noted that although Yandex is a national system, it is partly registered abroad, "not only for tax purposes, but also for other reasons." By which one, he did not specify.

Putin's statements were heard in response to the question of one of the forum participants. He drew attention to the duality of Yandex, noting that on the one hand it is a search engine, and on the other, the media. In his opinion, Yandex, making up the top 5 news, forms a picture of the day for tens of millions of people and at the same time has no media license and, therefore, does not bear any responsibility to the law.

Talking about the Internet and information security, Putin noted that the Internet was created as a special project of the CIA. The Americans, according to him, are trying to keep the monopoly in this area, but in the modern world it is impossible.
