Tadeusz Ruzhevich died

Today, April 24, in Wroclaw at the age of 92, the poet, writer, classic of Polish drama Tadeusz Ruzhevich died.

Tadeusz Ruzhevich was born in 1921 in the city of Radomsko. He began to be printed from the age of seventeen. During the Second World War, he took part in the partisan movement as part of the Kraiova Army. During the war, his first book “Forest Echo” was illegally published.

After the war, Tadeusz Ruzhevich studied the history of art at the University of Jagello in Krakow, in 1947 his first poetry collection “Anxiety” was published.

By the time of his debut as a playwright in 1960, Tadeusz Ruzhevich was already a recognized poet, the author of twelve poetic collections. A quarter of a century later, the writer said that he "wanted to destroy some dead dramaturgy structures, to break the action with the theater, but not to reproduce the Ionesko created by Becquet and Ionesko."

Tadeusz Ruzhevich is one of the most famous modern Polish writers in the world, his works - poetry, prose, drama, essay - translated into more than 40 languages, his plays have not been leaving the scene of Poland theaters and other countries for more than half a century. Laureate of many Polish and international awards, an honorary doctor of several universities in Poland, a member of the three academies of art in Germany.
