May Day demonstrations were held in Moscow

Traditional May Day demonstrations and rallies took place in Moscow. The dominant topic of all shares was the approval of the annexation of Crimea and the support of pro -Russian forces in Ukraine.

The most numerous event on Red Square was held by trade unions. According to Interfax in the capital's head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the number of its participants exceeded 100 thousand people. The columns of state employees passed from Vasilievsky descent to Tverskaya and further to Lubyanskaya Square. In their hands they carried the banners "Putin Right", "Proud of the Country" and "Sobyanin - our mayor." Sobyanin himself also took part in the procession.

Official May Day on Tverskaya

The Communist Party Activists passed along the traditional route from Kaluga to Lubyanskaya Square, along the Bolshoi Yakimanka, the Big Stone Bridge, Mokhovaya and the Holding Row. They also carried a large number of posters and banners associated with Ukraine. Many of them had provocative and frankly boorish content. The police estimated the number of participants in the procession of 2500 people.

The LDPR (on Pushkinskaya Square), the Socialist -Revolutionaries (passed from Trubnaya also to Pushkinskaya Square) and nationalists (walked along Marshal Vasilevsky to the Schukinskaya metro Street) were also held. The last event was not without detention. According to Interfax, the leader of the Russian movement Dmitry Demushkin, on Saturday, the police at the exit from their own house detained the soloist of the Kolovrat Rock band Denis Gerasimov, who was about to speak to the audience.
