About two million Russians are supposed to be celebrated today on May 1. Such information is located in the Russian Ministry of the Interior, which also notes that about two thousand festive events will be held in the country on this day. 55 thousand police officers and about seven thousand military personnel will ensure security, as well as cadets, private guards and members of the national squads, reports the information of the ITAR-TASS department.
For the first time in the history of modern Russia this year, on May 1, the action of the largest trade unions will be held not anywhere, but in the very heart of Moscow on Red Square. The deputy chairman of the Moscow Federation of Trade Unions, Alexander Mazunov, said that everything will be held according to the " classical nostalgic scheme " - as in the USSR. The columns of the workers will move from the Vasilievsky descent, and from the rostrum installed near the GUM, they will be welcomed by trade union leaders and honorary guests.
The demonstration will be held under the slogan "Worthy work - a fair salary!" As the deputy from the Communist Party Vladimir Rodin notes, the fact that the authorities agreed on a trade union action on Red Square is quite unusual. So, the Communists are still refused any routes passing through the city center. At the same time, representatives of the United Russia party promised to join the procession, but with their slogans. In particular, the Deputy Secretary of the General Council of the Party, Sergei Zheleznyak, said that during the policy of the policy they will advocate "respect for the national interests of Russia and the inadmissibility of external pressure in relation to our country" - in other words, against sanctions from the Western countries. The youth wing of the political organization - the "Young Guard of United Russia" - intends to glorify "greatness, beauty, invincibility" of the Russian Federation, RIA "Novosti" reports.
The Communist Party of Russia also intends to conduct a demonstration. The Communists want not only to express themselves in defense of the rights of workers, but also to declare their opinion on the situation in Ukraine. According to the first deputy chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Communist Party, Ivan Melnikov, on the demonstration, except for the traditional "power to work, not capital!" Or “factories - workers! Earth - to the peasants!”, The slogans “against the aggressive subversive actions of the United States, the information and financial war, which were unleashed by the Western elites” will sound.
The members of the Fair Russia party will rally for the Crimea, and the Rodina non -parliamentary party intends to hold a picket with the Ukrainian embassy against the policy of the current Kyiv authorities.
At the same time, few are ready to participate in demonstrations. Most Russians, according to sociological surveys, planned to spend time with friends and relatives for May holidays, relax (a third of the respondents), take up the beds in the country or just go to nature (every fifth). Some expressed a desire, on the contrary, to take a walk around the city (15%). At the same time, every tenth Russian admitted that on May 1 for him is a regular working day. The analytical center of Yuri Levada also reported that almost two -thirds of Russians are going to celebrate on May 1. Moreover, 43% consider this date the holiday of spring and labor (modern name of the holiday), and another 20% - the day of the solidarity of workers (Soviet name).
Feast "with the taste of the USSR"
Information agencies transmit messages that immerse the reader during the USSR with their style. In particular, Interfax conveys that in the Far East, "May Day is cheerful and cheerful." In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Magadan, Khabarovsk, Yakutsk, Blagoveshchensk, thousands of people entered the May Day demonstration, the agency notes. Rallies are held even in small cities and towns. Festive events were marked by the performances of officials who congratulated the Russians on the holiday, called to "share smiles" and "give each other the warmth of our hearts."
Most of the May Day events will have a distinct smack of the "late USSR", observers note. "The policy of returning the Soviet style and the device of everyday life was crowned with a clear and understandable symbol - a procession, the slogans of which demonstrate the massive and unconditional support of the authorities and its actions in all areas of life," the newspaper Vedomosti writes.
It should be noted that the most seriously reacted to the idea to turn the modern holiday of spring and labor on the Soviet day of the solidarity of workers not in the capital, but in Ulyanovsk. Here, for the festive program, “Welcome, or the entrance is not forbidden”, they decided to decorate the whole park in Soviet style, using banners, stalls with soda and other attributes of the late USSR.
Recall that the return of the Soviet traditions of the celebration of the first of the first step was a new step in a series of revival of Soviet paraphernalia. It is expected that on May 1, President Vladimir Putin will give rewards to the heroes of the Russian Federation for the second time, the Moscow authorities are preparing to return the historical name to the All -Russian exhibition center - VDNH, and soon, probably, the return of the Physical Culture parades who successfully surrendered the norms of the TRP should also be expected.
But May Day came from the USA
May Day in the world has different names - the Day of Labor, the Day of Spring, the holiday of spring and labor (in the Russian Federation), the Day of International Solidarity of Workers - and is celebrated in 142 countries: not only on May 1, but also on the first Monday of May. In some countries, labor Day is celebrated at another time of the year - these include, for example, the USA, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
In the Russian Empire, May Day as the Day of International Solidarity first celebrated 10 thousand workers in Warsaw in Warsaw. Since 1897, Maevki began to be political in nature and were accompanied by mass demonstrations.
After the October Revolution of 1917, the holiday became official: on this day, demonstrations of workers and military parades were held. On the second day of the holiday, as a rule, "Maevki" took place throughout the country - massive celebrations in nature. In the Russian Federation in 1992, the holiday was renamed the holiday of spring and labor.
Meanwhile, the history of the firstary institution is connected with the events that occurred in early May 1886, when the workers of Chicago organized a strike with the demands to reduce the 15-hour working day to an eight-hour, ITAR-TASS recalls.
On May 1, the 80,000th demonstration of workers was held, and on May 3 a rally was held, which was shot by the police. On the evening of May 4, the working demonstration was also brutally suppressed. During the events in Chicago, six workers were killed, about 50 people were injured, and hundreds of strikers arrested and condemned.
In 1889, the Congress of the Second International gathered in Paris decided to consider May 1 in memory of the Chicago events by the day of the international solidarity of workers.
Pervomay, as a holiday, began to celebrate in 1890 in Austria-Hungary, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, the USA, France, Italy, Sweden and some other countries. In the UK, this holiday was celebrated on May 4.
