The Federation Council called for an international investigation of unrest in Odessa

The Federation Council announced the need to create an international commission to investigate the riots in Odessa, whose victims were more than 40 people. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the first vice-speaker of the Council of Ministers Alexander Torshin.

“This, then happened in Odessa, is a crime of power against their own people, it is an act of vandalism. It is necessary to create an international commission to investigate the events that led to mass deaths of people, most of which burned alive, ”said Torshin.

According to him, representatives of only those countries whose authorities "were not involved in the conflict in Ukraine" should take part in this investigation. In this regard, he excluded the possibility of membership in this commission of specialists in the European Union, in particular, the head of the EU diplomacy, Katherine Ashton, who, according to Torshin, has a biased position on the situation in Ukraine.

In addition, he called on the international community to apply strict sanctions against the Ukrainian authorities.

A day earlier, there were clashes between pro -Russian activists and football fans supporting the current authorities of the country. Subsequently, the ultras managed to push supporters of federalization to the house of trade unions. After some time, a fire began in the building. In total, more than 40 people were killed , about 200 were injured, some of which are in serious condition.

In connection with the tragedy, the authorities of Odessa declared a three -day mourning .
