American sprinter Tyson Gay is disqualified for doping

Three-time world athletics champion American sprinter Tyson Gay is disqualified for one year for the use of forbidden drugs, the press service of the All-Russian Athletics Federation reports.

The disqualification period amounted to one, not two years, since the athlete himself refused to participate in the competition after detecting doping and collaborated with the investigation.

Last summer, traces of androgenic anabolic steroids were discovered in the samples of 31-year-old Gay. Since the samples were taken in a short period of time, all three positive tests were recognized as one doping service.

The disqualification period has been counted from June 23, 2013 - from the moment of the first positive doping test. Thus, if the World Anti -Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Association of athletics federations (IAAF) will approve of a year's disqualification, Gay will be able to return to large sport already in less than two months.

At the same time, the American anti -doping agency (USADA) annulled all the results of Gay since July 15, 2012 - the date of the first doping technique. The athlete was deprived of all awards won from that moment, including silver of the 2012 Olympic Games in London in the 4x100 m relay race. The athlete has already returned the award to the US National Olympic Committee.
